Generative grammars have applications in practical and creative systems. Development of these grammars usually requires programming knowledge and the generation of many iterations to achieve a desired effect. This project explores alternative feedback systems for visual grammar authoring. We propose three classes of interventions that assist the author in developing grammars: the ability to provide instantaneous feedback, records of past variations, and visualizations of where to go next. I created an experimental wrapper application for Context Free, a visual design grammar language (also known as CFDG), that implements several of these prototype interventions into the authoring process.

Below you will find more examples using CFDG, as well as a link to the experimental wrapper tool and a link to the full report. You can also view the project on Bitbucket.
